<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to interrupt a locking operation and open a door in the case when an article or a hand is caught in the door. SOLUTION: There are provided a latch 31 which is engaged with a striker on a chassis side and turned normally when a door is being closed, a ratchet 32, which is engaged with the outer periphery of the latch 31 and prevents the reverse turning of the latch 31 and a back drop mechanism 7 having an operation arm which turns the latch 31 to a full-latch being depressed by a fixed turning piece 4 which is energized to a drive motor 5 in automatic mode and turned when the latch 31 is turned to a half-latch. A fail safe mechanism 6 is mounted on a metallic bracket 1 where the fail safe mechanism 6 is designed to remove a slidable turning piece 3 clutch-engaged with a receiving gear 2 turning on the center of a shaft when an outer or an inner handle is operated so as to open the door. The fail safe mechanism 6, when turned by opening the door with a handle, forces the ratchet 32 engaged with the latch 31 to break away from the latch 31.</p> |
