PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contraction of the spacer in the initial stage of sintering of a ceramic material from being caused by using the spacer comprising a fiber sheet that consists essentially of carbon fiber and fibrillated fiber, a ceramic powder and an organic polymer compound. SOLUTION: In this manufacture, a ceramic powder is added to a fiber sheet contg. carbon fiber in a 15 to 50wt.% ratio by weight, in an amount equivalent to 10 to 40wt.% of the weight of the sheet, and further, an organic polymer, or preferably, a polymer obtained from a monomer having a polymerizable vinyl group is blended into the resulting fiber sheet contg. the ceramic power, in an amount equivalent to >=8wt.% of the total weight of the fiber sheet and ceramic powder. As the carbon fiber, polyacrylonitrile or pitch-based carbon fiber is used and its appropriate diameter and length are 5 to 20μm and 4 to 9mm, respectively. In a paper machine shown by the figure, a slurry A consisting of plural kinds of fiber is charged into a vessel 9 in a cylinder wet part 7 to form a wet paper, and then, another slurry B formed by dispersing a ceramic powder in water is supplied to the wet paper from a sprinkler 18 in a short wire part 8. Thereafter, the wet paper is dried to form a base paper and a polymer compound is impregnated into the base paper. |
