PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a dot overlap part from being formed with excessively high density when dots are printed in an overlap manner. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a first data-holding part 1, a second data- holding part 2 and a printing data-generating part 3. The first data-holding part 1 holds information of the corrected energy feed amount corresponding to each heat-generating element 5a so that a printing density is nearly equal from an upper end to a lower end of a serial head 5. The second data-holding part 2 stores re-correction information to re-correct the corrected energy feed amount information in order to obtain the energy feed amount for each one or several heat-generating elements at both ends of the serial head 5 so that a dot overlap part is prevented from being higher in density than the other parts. Image data, and the corrected energy feed amount information and re- correction information are input to the generating part 3. The generating part 3 corrects image data based on both information, and generates and supplies printing data to a serial head-driving part 4. |
