INK COMPOSITION AND COLORING AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink composition which is excellent in light resistance and can form a high-quality printed image with good fixability when used for ink jet recording by incorporating specified organosilicon compounds therein. SOLUTION: This composition comprises mainly a coloring agent and a dispersion medium and contains an organosilicon compound represented by formula I (R<1> is a group with the terminal organic functional group comprising carboxyl, amino or hydroxyl; R<2> is H, Cl or a 1-16C hydrocarbon group; m is 1 to 2; n is 0 to 1; X is a hydrolyzable group; and 3>=4-m-n>=2) and an organosilicon compound represented by formula II (R<3> is a group with the terminal organic functional group comprising epoxy; R<4> is H or a 1-16C hydrocarbon group; p is 1 to 2; q is 0 to 1; Y is a hydrolyzable group; and 3>=4-p-q>=2). The content of the organosilicon compounds is preferably about 0.1-10 pts.wt. for 1 pts.wt. coloring agent. The molar ratio of the compound of formula I to that of formula II is preferably (5 to 80):(20 to 95).
