PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize gallium arsenide scraps, etc., as starting material for high purity metallic arsenic or starting material for the mining and manufacturing industries and to diminish harmful arsenic-contg. waste by producing high purity diarsenic trioxide from the gallium arsenide scraps, etc. SOLUTION: Gallium arsenide scraps, etc., are charged into a reaction tube 1, heated to >=800 deg.C in an atmosphere of oxygen and burned in the temp. range of 800-1,200 deg.C. By this burning, arsenic is sublimed as diarsenic trioxide and separated from gallium oxide, etc., and the sublimed diarsenic trioxide is solidified with a water-cooled condenser 3 to produce the objective high purity diarsenic trioxide.
|
