PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aqueous dispersion of a resin capable of manifesting excellent coating membrane properties including both water and impact resistances and useful for a coating material, electric and electronic fields, etc., by using a water dispersable resin obtained by reacting a specific copolymer with an epoxy resin and further neutralizing the product of the reaction. SOLUTION: This aqueous dispersion of a resin consists essentially of (A) a water dispersable resin obtained by neutralizing the copolymer resin obtained by reacting the copolymer (A1 ) which is the one made of a styrenic monomer (M1 ), a (meth)acrylic monomer (M2 ) and an alkyl ester (M3 ) of a (meth)acrylic acid and includes component M3 in 2-20wt.% based on the total raw material, with an epoxy resin (A2 ), with an basic material, and (B) an aqueous medium. Moreover, the components A1 and A2 have preferably 100,000-250,000 and 2,000-8,000 molecular weights respectively. Thereby, not only the flexibility of the coating membrane is improved without lowering the impact resistance of the coating membrane, but also corrosion resistance, adhesion, a mechanical strength and dispersion stability of the dispersion are also improved. |
