PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loading material for an ink jet recording paper which produces a high definition quality image even when a coated layer of the ink jet recording paper is formed of an alkaline coating liquid. SOLUTION: This loading material for an ink jet recording paper is composed of amorphous silica which has a peak of the pore dia. distribution curve showing a pore dia. distribution measured after the loading material is suspended in an aqueous solution with a pH value of 11 for 30min., falling within the range of 37.5-100Åand 2,000-3,000Å respectively in terms of pore radius. In addition, the amorphous silica should preferably have an average particulate diameter measured by the coal tar counter method, falling within the range of 2.5-10μm and also have an oil absorption of 250ml/100g or more. |
