摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst with which acrylic acid can be efficiently produced by producing a mixed metal oxide catalyst to produce acrylic acid by drying a solution containing molybdenum, vanadium, etc., heating the obtained dried substance in the absence of oxygen, and then heating the resultant substance in an oxygen-containing gas current. SOLUTION: To produce a catalyst to be used for producing acrylic acid, a solution or a slurry is dried and the solution or the slurry contains catalyst constituting components such as molybdenum, vanadium, and tellurium and/or antimony, preferably molybdenum and vanadium as indispensable components, in the following existence ratios of respective indispensable components to the sum of the indispensable components excluding oxygen; 0.25<rMo <0.98, 0.003<rV<0.5, 0.003<rX<0.5, 0.003<rY<0.5 (wherein rMo , rV, rX, rY respectively stand for mole ratio of Mo, V, X, Y to the sum of the indispensable components excluding oxygen). Then, the obtained dried substance is heated in the absence of oxygen and after that, the resultant substance is further heated in an oxygen containing gas current.
