HYDROGENATION DEMETALIZATION CATALYST OF HYDROCARBON OIL AND METHOD FOR HYDROGENATING AND DEMETALIZING HYDROCARBON OIL BY USING SAID CATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation demetalization catalyst of hydrocarbon oil and a method for hydrogenating and demetalizing hydrocarbon oil in which choking of the catalyst is prevented and space between the catalysts is maintained and sudden rise in pressure difference is prevented and continuous operation in a long period is enabled in the case of applying hydrogeneration demetalization treatment to heavy oils. SOLUTION: The hydrogenation demetalization catalyst of hydrocarbon oil consists of a carrier 3 and a catalytic component carried on the carrier and has reaction flow paths through which a reactive fluid passes in the inside of the catalyst and also has a coating layer in at least a part of the surface of the catalyst, which consists of inactive substance not essentially having a demetalizing function and does not practically permeate the reactive fluid. The specific surface area of the above- mentioned coating layer desirably is <=10m<2> /g. The catalyst 1 is a cylindrical body or a honeycomb structural body having a single through-hole 4 or a plurality of through-holes 4 and the equivalent diameter of the flow path for reaction favorably is 1-10mm. The catalyst is suitable for a packing of a fixed bed.
