PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fragrance enhancer, better in enhancing power than that of other kinds of glycosides and capable of enhancing the fragrance of a plant body such as a cut flower by including a specific galactoside as an active ingredient therein. SOLUTION: This fragrance enhancer comprises aβ-galasctoside represented by the formula (R is an aliphatic alcohol residue, an aromatic alcohol residue, an alicyclic alcohol residue or phenol residue) (e.g. phenethyl-β-galactoside) as an active ingredient. In order to obtain the galactoside, e.g. lactose is preferably used as a saccharide donor to enzymically synthesize the galactoside with aβ-galactosidase and the galactoside concentration is preferably about 0.01-10wt.% when bringing the fragrance enhancer into contact with a plant body.
