PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve a change in length of the remaining area of a rear end of paper corresponding to a paper feeding speed to reduce a variability of a printing position neighbouring the rear end. SOLUTION: A paper feed device is driven by a balance area D of the rear end of the paper to stop when a rear end of a paper fed in a low speed has passed an actuater 41 of a sensor 42. When the rear end of the paper fed in a high speed has passed the actuater 41 of the sensor 42, the oscillating speed of the actuator against the sensor 42 is fixed regardless of a passing speed of the paper. Therefore, the advance of paper further than D by the faster speed as compared to the feeding speed in a low speed is corrected, and the paper feed mechanism is driven by (D-α) to suspend it.
