Preparing in extrusion line cross-sectional cut in thick-walled plastic pipe

An outermost part of the wall thickness is removed from the pipe (1) and a further inwardly located part of the wall thickness of the pipe remains intact and is not cut through to remove swarf. By swarf removal on opposite sides of the cross-sectional cut slanting formations are made on the pipe wall. Directly after cutting (2) through the maintained part of the wall thickness the existing pipe ends are somewhat bent away from each other for drawing back the cutting device in a frictionless manner. After withdrawal of the cutting device, the pipe parts located on opposite sides of the cross-sectional cut are bent towards each other until they touch.
