A processing installation has a closable mixer-crusher in which the base material (biological waste or compost) is mixed with selected additives and crushed. The mixed and crushed biological waste is conveyed by an intermediate hopper to a sifting and sorting device in which the mixed and crushed material is sorted according to grain size and is air separated from lightweight materials. The material separated from lightweight materials then goes through a magnetic separator and is thrown on a heap before being put on rotting stacks. The thus obtained biological compost is mixed with appropriate additives, crushed and sifted in the mixer-crusher and is stored or conditioned as a finished substrate. The material is transported in the installation by conveyor belts. The installation is powered by a central generator and is automatically operated by a central control. The bad smells produced during operation of the installation are negligible and no manual labour is required to process the material. |
