PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make veneer layer packages join automatically from veneers of large area and to form a sufficient mechanical bond consecutively. SOLUTION: A veneer 1 is passed through a bonding agent coating machine, put on a circulating take-off belt, taken off by a stock belt 5 and further delivered from the stock belt to a feed belt 6. First veneer packages are brought into contact with each other along a roller table 7 and raised to a tilt position and the veneer of the preceding veneer package which comes down onto a conveyor belt is held together with the corresponding veneer of the following veneer package so that one veneer strand be formed. This veneer strand is guided successively to a delivery belt 3 at the center, drawn out from a feeding passage at the lateral side of the veneer feed roller table 7 and drawn horizontally into the roller table 7 on the lower side, and the veneer strand thus formed is introduced into a prepress and a main press.
