PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the stripping of an electrode catalyst coating film from a titanium substrate in the insoluble electrode for electroplating and to prolong the service life of the electrode. SOLUTION: This insoluble electrode for electroplating is obtained by thermally spraying a titanium powder on a titanium substrate 1 to form a surface- roughened coating film 2 in 100-200μm thickness and applying an electrode catalyst substance contg. a platinum-group metal or its oxide thereon. Otherwise, a titanium powder having 10-60μm grain diameter is sprayed on the titanium substrate by reduced-pressure plasma spraying to form the surface-roughened coating film.
