PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel alignment measuring method capable of highly precisely, simply and inexpensively measuring a toe angle, a total toe, a slice angle, a caster angle, and a kingpin inclination angle for each wheel of a vehicle at a discretionary place.SOLUTION: Strings are stretched to vehicle body side faces in parallel with each other, and angles between the strings and the respective wheels, and angles between the strings and lines formed by connecting from front wheels to rear wheels are measured so as to associate the right and left and angle relationship among the strings, the wheels and the vehicle body and obtains toe angles of the respective wheels with respect to a vehicle straight travel direction. Horizontal distances from the strings to respective points of the wheels are precisely measured using a vernier scale. A camber angle and a steering angle in straight travel and in applying two steering angles are measured using the fact that one point on a wheel axis moves on one plane in steering, with a kingpin axis used as a normal vector, calculates coordinates and applies them to an equation of a plane to calculate the normal vector, thereby calculating a caster angle and a kingpin inclination angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
