A wristwatch (1) has a conventional metal case (2) with shoulders (2a) which are configured to receive the ends of a bracelet. A container (19) including a plastic body (20) is placed within the case (2) and located without touching the case bottom by ring joints (42,44). The container (19) houses time keeping equipment and a battery (36) and is made watertight by a glass (22) which is ultrasonically soldered to it and also by a watertight spindle (26) and watertight battery compartment (40). A watchface surround which is a press fit to the case (2) maintains the container (19) in place.
