FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves passing electric current through tooth root during tooth root canal obturation and measuring circuit resistance. First of all, circuit resistance is recorded that corresponds to active electrode position near top opening of the tooth root canal. Then circuit resistance increments are recorded as the root canal is filled with small portions of filling material. The device has power supply battery, active and passive electrodes, acoustic signal unit, operation mode stabilizer connected to the passive electrode, signal shaper which input is connected to the active electrode through calibration unit, the first threshold recorder which input is connected to the first output of the signal shaper, the second threshold recorder which input is connected to the second output of the signal shaper, controllable acoustic generator which inputs are connected to the first outputs of the first and the second threshold recorders. The second outputs of the latter ones are connected to the first and the second light indication units, respectively. The acoustic signal unit is connected to output of the controllable acoustic generator. Operation mode switch is connected to the operation mode stabilizer.
