Apparatus for production of casting cores

The apparatus for production of casting cores has split heated mould (1a,1b) fed with moulding sand (S). Sand (Sa) in contact with and in the vicinity of the heated mould surface (3) hardens, while sand (Sb) in the central region of the mould cavity (2) does not harden and is extracted to produce a hollow core. The apparatus further has a moulding sand container housing a switching valve (7). The latter has a supply opening through which sand from outside is fed into the container, and an outlet opening through which the non-hardened san (Sb) from the central region of the mould cavity is directly taken outside.
