The planar method involves controlling the drive motors (36,38) used for transporting the perforated film slide strip (10B) between supply and take-up film reels, for tensioning the film slide image (12) between the latter, to prevent distortion in the corresponding projection image. The position of the film slide image can be determined by detecting the edge perforations (14B) of the film slide strip via at least one optical sensor (18), coupled to a microcontroller (30) for the transport motors.
