Apparatus for conveying sliver cans, e.g. between two draw frames, comprises successive conveyor sections (17,20,19,26,24) extending at an angle to one another and driven transfer devices (31,28,29,30) for displacing the cans from one section to the next. The transfer devices may comprise endless belts with projections which engage the cans from below to displace them on to the next section. The conveyor sections may also comprise endless belts. The conveyor sections and transfer devices may be under the control of a common control device.
