Planar heater for vehicle mirror

The heater uses a glass film (18) formed on a metallic chrome film (16b) on the back of the mirror and a group of electrodes (3-8) on the glass film. The electrodes comprise a main pair (3,4), a power input pair (5,6) joined to the main ones and comb-like electrodes (7,8) which are interlaced like fingers. A resistance film (9) is formed on the glass film so as to cover the comb-like electrodes. Over it is an insulating film (20). The device is manufactured by first making the glass film and applying the other items in the order mentioned above. The glass film is applied using screen-printing or a spray process.
