The converter has a rotary drive with at least one planetary roller (8) which rotates in a threaded hollow wheel. The planetary roller has an outer thread in at least one first section. In a second section it has at least one continuous rotating surface or a groove and ridge profile with at least one groove or ridge. During rotation of the planetary roller, the outer thread rolls on the inner thread (10) of the first hollow wheel. At the same time the continuous surface or ridged profile rolls on at least one continuous surface or ridged profile of a second hollow wheel. The ratio between the rotation diameter of the outer thread of the planetary roller and that of the inner thread of the hollow wheel is different from the rotation rate ratio between the outer thread and the inner thread. During the rolling operation an axial relative motion results between the planetary roller and the hollow wheel with the inner thread.
