Recovering fines from a particulate material

In a process for recovering fines from a particulate material using a sieve, the particulate material is fluidised using air to form a fluidised bed in a chamber enclosing the sieve on one side, and the fines are sucked out of the fluidised bed, along with the fluidising air, by the application of suction applied to the other side of the sieve. The fines are conveyed away and separated from the air stream at the end of the conveying section. Also claimed is an arrangement in which the process is carried out.
