The system, used predominantly for illuminating vertical and horizontal surfaces arranged approximately at right angles to one another, is made up of at least lighting fittings arranged vertically at a gangway width away from the vertical matching surfaces. The lighting fittings, measured in the horizontal plane, illuminate the vertical surfaces from both sides at an angle, preferably less than 45 deg.
