A sintered hydrodynamic bearing containing oil within the pores is formed with a plurality of grooves 21 along the inner diameter to produce the kinetic pressure. The proportion between the grooves and corresponding inner periphery portions 22 satisfies the expression * small Greek alpha */(* small Greek alpha *+* small Greek beta *)=0.56 0.78, where * small Greek alpha * denotes the groove angle; and * small Greek beta * denotes the angular interval between two adjacent grooves. The cross-sectional shape of the groove bottom surface 24 may be part-circular, V-shaped, semi-circular, or trapezoidal.
