This invention concerns a device for feeding and compressing a web of batting (W) for a subsequent winding device (40) with at least three calendar rollers (K1, K2, K3, K4) arranged in a row (R) one after the other which, in their working position, are coupled with a drive device (47, 48, 46, Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4). In such feed devices in the form of calendar rollers which have the task of compressing the web of batting (W) delivered, it is difficult to introduce the end of a new web of batting between the calendar rollers. Many different special measures for feeding have been tried. The aim of the invention is to simplify and improve the process for introducing the end of a new web of batting. This is achieved by making at least one of the calendar rollers (K2) displaceable out of the row (R) or out of its working position by means of a device (Z, 63, 61, 60). |
