A modular structure consists of at least two, and preferably three, components (1, 2, 3), which can be called cells, designed to fit one inside another for transportation on the platform (4) of a road truck, with the largest of the cells acting as a container for the others. The cells can be made with the same initial length, with the outer one (s) fitted with an extension ring (19) to give them extra length so they can be fitted inside one another for transport. The largest cell also has an opening side wall which acts as a cover for transportation purposes. Once at their destination the modular components are mounted side by side on a supporting framework to form the basic shell of a building.
