The helmet has an outer hard shell containing air channels (7,8,15) for a fresh air supply. One or more filter elements (5) are mounted in the air inlet region and the neck region is sealed by a collar (17) or similar arrangement. A water spray guard (4) is arranged in front of the filter element in the air flow direction. The air inlet can be regulated or closed by an adjustable grid (2). Battery (10) drives motor of ventilator (9).
