An automatic wide screen display method is proposed which first judges whether or not there is a video signal by using a luminance signal component of an inputted video signal and detects an aspect ratio data of the inputted video signal synchronized by a vertical synchronizing signal in order to automatically display a wide screen image, and performs communication using a protocol defined between a main microcomputer 23 controlling deflection and an exclusive wide screen microcomputer 24 detecting an aspect ratio of the inputted video signal in order to automatically display the wide screen image in accordance with the input video signal, and controls an integrated deflection device 26 in accordance with a communication result with the exclusive wide screen microcomputer 24, for thereby displaying the wide screen image. |
