PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an objective lens driving device for an optical pickup capable of simply performing drive control for returning an objective lens performing free vibration to a stable state without impeding miniaturization of the optical pickup. SOLUTION: In this objective lens driving device for the optical pickup, a drive control part 100 is provided with first, second adders 101, 102 adding respective output signals of two photodetectors D, A and the photodetectors B, C adjacent in a track direction of an optical recording medium M among a quadripartite photodetector, first, second peak detectors 103, 104 respectively detecting the peak values of the output signals of these adders and a comparator 105 comparing the output signals from these peak detectors. By a lens position signal outputted from the comparator 105, positional control for holding the freely vibrating objective lens to a neutral position is performed. By a lens speed signal differentiating the lens position signal, speed control for stopping the free vibration of the freely vibrating objective lens is performed. |
