PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive refractory composition having excellent service life capable of substituting for electrofused alumina. SOLUTION: This refractory composition is obtained by powdering waste slag (vanadium ore slag alumina) consisting mainly of alumina produced as a by-product when a vanadium alloy is produced and then blending the powder as an aggregate or crude aggregate. The composition has service life comparable to that of electrofused alumina. Since the composition is slight in abnormal expansion from the vicinity of 700 deg.C in oxidative atmosphere, the composition is can be used even in oxidative atmosphere and characteristic behavior which vanadium oxide included in a proper amount exhibits can positively be utilized. |
