A closure for a lid of a pail, especially a paint pail. The closure has a threaded neck extending from said lid and encompassing an annular orifice with an internal annular ring circumferentially located therein. A removable annular plug located is within the orifice, and retained therein by an interference fit. A cap fits on the threaded neck, and contacts the plug to urge the plug into interference fit with the annular ring.
