摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce NOX outflow in the atmosphere at the time of NOX absorbent regeneration without deteriorating drivability in an exhaust emission control device for internal combustion engine which includes NOX absorbent. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is provided with NOX absorbent which absorbs NOX in the exhaust gas when the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas is lean and emits the absorbed NOX when oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas decreases, and a regeneration means (Step 107) which emits NOX absorbed from the NOX absorbent by making the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas rich and regenerates the NOX absorbent by conducting reduction purification for the emitted NOX. At the time of regenerating the NOX absorbent by a regenerating means, the output of an engine is decreased (Step 104) and the decreased amount of the engine output is offset by decreasing the load of an engine (Step 105).
