PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a display with a sufficient luminance and gradation in the case of displaying a natural picture on a high resolution display. SOLUTION: In a display type display making pixels multiply arranged in the horizontal direction and vertical direction selectively emit lights by impressing voltages on plural electrodes arranged in a matrix shape, a time division driving method in which one field period is divided into plural subfields weighted by a light emitting time is used. In this case, an effective display area is divided into plural areas and a scanning is not performed as to a non-display area and the number of the subfields is increased as an area where a multi-level display in the display area is required and the number of the subfields is made to be the absolute minimum number of the subfields as to other areas where the multi-level display is not required. |
