WEATHERSTRIP AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a solid-like rubber skin layer having a thickness uniform in a lengthwise direction on a sponge rubber portion in which at least a partial sectional shape is varied by variable extrusion with satisfactory productivity. SOLUTION: The weatherstrip 1 comprises a base portion 2, a hollow sealing portion 3 and a lip portion 4. A sectional shape (here a protruding length) of the portion 4 is varied in a lengthwise direction by variable extrusion. Substantially entirety of the weatherstrip 1 is constituted by a sponge rubber 5 obtained by vulcanization foaming an extrusion molded unvulcanized unfoamed EPDM rubber. A rubber skin layer 6 crossinked while being remained unfoamed by emitting an electron beam to a surface of the unvulcanized unfoamed rubber before the vulcanization foaming after the variable extrusion is formed on an upper outer surface of the portion 4.
