After the artificial biomaterial is laid on a living body, the R-O-Si compounds formed on the surface of the coated layer react with body fluid, the alkali metal ion or alkaline earth metal ion is eluted, and hydronium ion (H3 O<+> ) is taken in from the body fluid. As a result, pH in the body fluid near the material rises, the degree of supersaturating with respect to apatite rises and an environment where the apatite is easily deposited is given.
