PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alumina-silicon carbide-carbon-based brick having a high durability no way inferior to that of a brick contained by using an electrofused alumina, and also at a low cost. SOLUTION: This alumina-silicon carbide-carbon-based brick consists of 5-90wt.% aggregate obtained by crushing a waste slag consisting of an alumina produced as a by-product in the production of a vanadium alloy as a main component, 3-20wt.% silicon carbide, 2-40wt.% carbon, <=10wt.% metallic powder and a suitable amount of a binder. Since the aggregate containing less impurity and having a high corrosion resistance, does not expand abnormally at around 700 deg.C, the brick having a durability higher than that of a brick obtained by using an electrofused alumina, is obtained, and also produced at a low cost since the aggregate is the by-product of the production of the vanadium alloy. |
