PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically light up a lamp again in the case where an emission failure is generated in a fluorescent lamp by providing a timer means and a control means in a starting device. SOLUTION: After a transistor 25 is turned on, the base current to a transistor 21 is hindered by a Zener-diode 23 so as to maintain the transistor 21 in the off-condition. As a result, the transistor 25 is maintained in the on-condition. A semi-conductor switch element 9 is maintained in the off-condition, and a fluorescent lamp 3 is maintained in the lighting condition. During this lighting, voltage in both ends of the fluorescent lamp 3 is sufficiently lower in comparison with the voltage of an alternating current power source, and the transistor 21 is therefore maintained in the off-condition so as to prevent, the turn on of the switch element 9. In the case where emission failure of the fluorescent lamp 3 is generated, voltage in both ends of the fluorescent lamp 3 becomes equal to the voltage of the alternating current power source 1, and a first timer means 11 is operated again for starting operation, and the fluorescent lamp 3 is lighted again. |
