PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fluorine-containing copolymer which is useful as a coating material forming a coated film excellent in water repulsion and staining resistance and can develop high staining resistance by allowing a copolymer prepared by using a polymerizable monomer bearing two trifluoromethyl groups on one carbon atom in theα-position to have a cross-linking site. SOLUTION: This polymer is prepared by copolymerizing a monomer mixture of (A) 10-60mol% of a polymerizable monomer, for example, hexafluoroisobutene or hexafluoroacetone, (B) 10-70mol% of an aliphatic vinyl ester of the formula (R<1> is a 1-22C alkyl which may be branched), (C) 1-60mol% of a polymerizable monomer bearing a functional group which can be a curing site selected from hydroxy, carboxyl, epoxy and other groups and one polymerizable double bond, and (D) 0-20mol% of a polymerizable monomer which is a monomer other than component (A) to component (B) bearing no functional group which can be a curing site on the total of 100mol%. The polymer prepared thereby can be used for buildings and outdoor structure which are required to be resistant to staining. |
