FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines with axes of cylinders in parallel with main shaft axis. SUBSTANCE: axial-piston engine has stepped cylinder block. One working and two compression spaces are formed on each cylinder. Space for accumulating compressed working medium is formed in cylinder block around its central axis. This space is connected through distributor with working and both compression spaces of all cylinders. Distributor is located along central axis of cylinder block and is made in form of pack of disk gates kinematically coupled with crankshaft, and bushings for letting in and out of working medium. Ports in working and compression spaces of cylinders and intake manifold are connected to distributor by means of corresponding channels definitely oriented in cylinder block. Number of channels is equal to number of cylinders. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 8 cl, 10 dwgd
