FIELD: cleaning of surface water reservoirs. SUBSTANCE: method includes intake of water from surface water reservoir, supply it to hydraulic machine through water supply circuit, passage of water through hydraulic machine (hydraulic device) and its subsequent withdrawal through water discharge circuit, and also supply of air to water supply circuit by means of aerator and taking samples. Air is supplied in the amount determined by relation given in the invention description. Value of biomass of dissolved organic matter is determined as difference between full biomass of hydrobionts supplied from water supply circuit to hydraulic device and total mass of biomass of live, injured and dead organisms in water discharge circuit. Samples are taken in points of water supply and water discharge circuits, where flow has no large nonuniformity in velocity field and dead zones, both directly in points of sampling, and on sections between sampling points and hydraulic devices.
