PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acceleration sensor in which detection error is reduced for same size by providing acceleration sensor elements having different detection sensitivity to the surface and the rear in one package. SOLUTION: The acceleration sensor comprises acceleration detection elements 1a, 1b, IC 2a, 2b, a ceramic package 3, a conductor 4, and caps 5a, 5b. The acceleration detection elements 1a and the IC 2a and the acceleration detection elements 1b and the IC 2b serve, respectively, as independent sensors and have different acceleration detection sensitivity. One is used as a sensor for detecting crash while the other is used as a sensor for the purpose of fail- safe of a main sensor having narrow acceleration and frequency detection ranges. The acceleration detection elements 1a, 1b are mounted integrally on the surface and the rear in order to reduce the mounting surface. Since the ceramic package 3 has multilayer structure, it can be mounted easily on the opposite sides. Furthermore, the acceleration detection elements 1a, 1b are mounted to have coaxial detecting direction in order to eliminate the acceleration detection error between elements. |
