PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinch roller manufactured at low costs by using a resin bearing and capable of sufficiently stability such requested characteristics as tape traveling stability and bearing durability. SOLUTION: This pinch roller is constructed in such a manner that roller main boy 3 made of a cylindrical elastic material 34 is attached via a slide bearing 2 to a roller shaft 1 having one end 1a attached to an arm A and the roller main body 3 is pressed to a capstan C by moving the arm A. In this case, the other end 1b of the roller shaft 1 is set to be inclined in a direction close to the capstan C at an angle (α) within a range of 0 deg. <α<= to the axis of the capstan C, a clearance (a) in a radial direction between the roller shaft 1 and a bearing 2 and the effective length (b) of the bearing 2 in a thrust direction is set to satisfy the relationship of 0.02<=a/b<=0.05, and the bearing 2 is made of a self lubricating resin.
