摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit undesired light from being emitted by an auxiliary light part where a pattern projection is not performed, to save the power of a power source and to prevent the deterioration of the auxiliary light part by changing the reference of a decision whether the auxiliary light may be emitted or not, as to two kinds of auxiliary light with a pattern projection and auxiliary light without a pattern projection, in the case of detecting a focus by using the auxiliary light. SOLUTION: In the case an externally attached stroboscopic device is not loaded (101), it is decided whether or not an AF operation may be performed with the incorporated auxiliary light having no pattern projection. That is, based on the accumulation time of the AF sensor at the last focusing detecting time (102), the focus detecting operation is performed by using the incorporated auxiliary light (103) in the case the last luminance is low, but, in the case the last luminance is not low, the AF operation is unnecessary, then, such the operation is not performed. In the case, the externally attached stroboscopic device is loaded, the focusing detecting operation is performed with the externally attached auxiliary light having the pattern projection in the case the luminange is low (106). In the case, the luminance is not low, in addition to this operation, in the case, the contrast is low, the focus detecting operation is performed with the externally attached auxiliary light (108), in the case, the contrast is not low, the focus detecting operation with the auxiliary light is not necessary, then, such the operation is not performed.
