DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DISMANTLING ANTI-IMPLOSION METALLIC BAND OF CATHODE-RAY TUBE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dismantle a band efficiently by removing the band by heating the band with high frequency heating while applying a pressing load on the band. SOLUTION: A cathode-ray tube 1 with its panel surface supported and carried on a transfer pallet 21 moves to a position below a high frequency heating device, and raised with CRT lifting means 12 to a specified position within an induction heating coil 10A. Tab pressing means 11 comes down to press tabs 3 at four locations each with a force of 4 to 6kg. A high frequency heating device is operated to heat an anti-implosion metallic band 2 to temperatures of 350 to 500 degrees C. Thus, the band 2 is rapidly heated and expanded into an 'expansion-removable' state. Furthermore, heat conducted from the band 2 reduces shearing adhesion strength of a plastic material impregnated into a non-flammable damping material and a plastic material used as an undercoat. When the adhesive strength of the plastic materials becomes lower than the pressing force, the band 2 comes off the panel section.
