PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a high-quality image record for a long period of time for preventing the deterioration of electrification, in a magnetic brush/AC voltage applying type contact electrification means, by preventing the attachment of conductive magnetic particles from the magnetic brush part to a body to be charged while maintaining a given electrification performance even at the time of high-voltage application, and also in an image recording device in which the above electrification means has been used, by preventing the attachment of conductive magnetic particles from the magnetic brush part to an image carrier while maintaining the given electrification performance even at the time of high-voltage application. SOLUTION: In the charging circuit made up of a magnetic brush part 24 of a magnetic-brush electrification device 2, a magnetic brush part carrying member 21, a voltage applying means S1 for the magnetic brush part carrying member 21, and a body 1 to be electrified, a resistor 25 having a resistance of 0.5 times or more that of the single body of the magnetic brush charging device is inserted, and also the resistance of the electrification circuit after the resistor 25 has been inserted is made to be 10<7>Ωor less.
