PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the pitching unevenness and a color slippage generated to an image by the shock of the contact and the separation of a cleaning means, by setting the furnishing position, and the contacting and separating timing of the cleaning means to clean an intermediate transfer body adequately, in an image forming device having an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: A surface of an intermediate transfer body 9 is cleaned by abutting the cleaning roller 43 of an intermediate transfer body cleaning device 42. The furnishing position of the roller 43 is set at the downstream side of the position of the tip of a toner image, at the time when the rear end L1 of the toner image on the intermediate transfer body 9 after the first copying passes the first transferring position T1, and furthermore, the operation starting timing of the roller 43 by a control device 50 is set after the rear end L1 of the toner image on the intermediate transfer body 9 after the first copying has passed the frist transferring position T1, and before the tip S of the toner image reaches to the roller 43. Consequently, since the contacting and separating operation of the roller 43 is carried out after the toner image on an image carrier 15 is copied on the intermediate transfer body as the first transfer position, the shock in the contacting and the separating time is eliminated. |
