<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid HOL blocking and improve the throughput by providing two sets of ATM switches, sending cells out of an input cell buffer even if conflict control is lost, and processing them in next timing. SOLUTION: A 1st ATM switch 10 is arranged at the intersection of incoming lines IN1 -IN4 and outgoing lines OUT1 -OUT4 and makes connections with output cell buffers 251-254 according to address information of arriving cells. Here, multiple connections of a 2nd ATM switch 20 with the 1st ATM switch 10 are made through intermediate cell buffers 231-234. The intermediate cell buffers 231-234 store cells when the cells are transferred by 1st input cell lines 531-534. If the 1st ATM switch 10 has conflict and loses it, the corresponding cells in the intermediate cell buffers 211-214 are discarded and the cells in the intermediate cell buffers 231-234 are stored and sent out to 2nd input cell lines 541-544 in the next timing.</p> |
