METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DEFINING FACE OF WIRE FRAME MODEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for efficiently defining the face of a wire frame model. SOLUTION: A pair of segments positioned in one prescribed face are successively selected from segments constituting a three-dimensional wire frame model by a segment pair selecting means 38. Then, all segments on one face including a pair of segments selected by the segment pair selecting means 38 are retrieved as candidate segments Gi by a candidate segment retrieving means 40. A closed loop forming segments forming a closed loop on one plane are selected from the candidate segments retrieved by the candidate segment retrieving means 40 by a closed loop forming segment selecting means 42. A prescribed face is defined based on the closed loop forming segments selected by the closed loop forming segment selecting means 42 by a face dealing means 44. Thus, the retrieving range of the segments is limited to the segments in one plane including a prescribed pair of segments so that the definition of the face of a three-dimensional wire frame model can be more efficiently attained than the conventional method in which the closed loop is retrieved for all the segments.
